25-year-old Gabbie from Ravenswood Tasmania often fears her dyslexia holds her back, however with support from the atWork Australia Workforce Australia team she is starting to see her career progress, with a management role in sight.
Gabbie had previously worked in hospitality but had found cleaning to be an industry she enjoyed.
The atWork Australia team supported Gabbie to complete additional training to advance her skills, knowledge, and career.
She completed her white card and has also participated in green programs to support her passion of making the cleaning industry environmentally friendly. “Gabbie commenced in the cleaning industry and has grown by undertaking additional training and programs,” said Job Coach, Sarah.
“She has worked with management on a recycling program and has been advised she will be supervising when the manager is on holidays.”
Gabbie is appreciative of the atWork Australia team for supporting her as her career grows. She also appreciates the team for helping her learn life lessons such as budgeting and super as she heads towards her long-term goals.
She has been supported by the team with fuel vouchers to get to and from work, which helps her maintain her hours when bills become overwhelming. The team has also connected Gabbie with external agencies such as Urban Money for assistance to learn about budgeting.
“Gabbie’s self-esteem was low when she started working with the Workforce Australia team,” said Sarah.
“Her long-term goal is to own her own home, and she is using this goal to push herself and manifest positivity in her life.”
Sarah and the atWork Australia team have also connected Gabbie to our internal wellness services for additional support.
She continues to be supported by our In-Work Support team who assist her to maintain her hours and will continue to help her towards her goal of working in a management position.
