With the physical demands of work becoming a challenge for Norwin, it was important to find an opportunity that would provide him with stability and longevity.
From Victoria Park, Western Australia, Norwin, 47, has spent most of his life working in physically demanding jobs such as a removalist, factory hand and in a timber mill. He has always been motivated to work, however, was becoming disheartened as it became more difficult to complete the physical tasks required of him. At the same time, he struggled with a mental health condition that impacted his concentration, efficiency, endurance and motivation.
Due to his physical and mental health condition, Norwin reached out to atWork Australia and was connected with his Job Coach, Babita, who has been able to give him motivation and direction.
After getting to know Norwin, Babita suggested a role that wasn’t physical and one where he could engage with people would suit him and allow him to thrive.
Norwin already had basic computer skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills, thus they decided a job in a call centre would be appropriate.
Babita found Norwin a suitable role and he was placed early in 2021. He has been at the call centre for just over a month now and says he is “finding it challenging yet enjoyable”. He hopes he will be able to stay in the same job until his retirement.
Norwin was very happy and excited to get the job with the call centre and believes he has found his “dream job”.
He is thankful to Babita and the atWork Australia team for the commitment and support in helping him find meaningful employment. He says he will recommend the service of atWork Australia to his friends and family who need assistance.
Norwin’s Job Coach, Babita, said “he has been a pleasure to work with. He has always been willing to do whatever is required of him to find work and give anything a try”.
