Workforce Australia Client, Sam*, had been unemployed for almost two years when they started working with Job Coach, Zubda, at the Punchbowl, NSW, atWork Australia office.
Sam was living with health concerns which means they are unable to sit or stand for long periods of time. They were unsure of what kind of work would be suitable.
Zubda spent time building rapport with Sam and discussing types of work they might be interested in.
Sam disclosed to Zubda they were experiencing financial hardship and were finding it hard to concentrate on looking for work with this added stress.
Zubda referred Sam into the Money Minded program to support them to learn more about managing finances.
atWork Australia supported Sam with fuel vouchers to attend this training.
With their finances more in hand, Sam landed an interview at the local Community Centre which was close to home. Zubda helped them practice for the interview and helped them obtain their Working With Children Check and First Aid certificate required for the position.
The employer was flexible to Sam’s caring responsibilities as well.
The part time administration role also provided Sam the flexibility to sit or stand when needed.
Sam is grateful to their new employer for being so supportive and flexible and allowing them to utilise their full range of skills.
They are looking forward to working in a sustainable and meaningful job to support their family.
