At 60-years-old, Ian found himself looking for new employment. He lives with a shoulder and upper arm disorder which impacted the types of roles he could do, along with the number of hours he could work.
He started working with Disability Employment Services Job Coach, Khala, at the Eureka office in Victoria. He already had some work, but his hours were limited.
Khala worked with Ian to look at tailoring a plan to support him, this included supporting Ian to purchase new clothing he needed for his role
Ian’s goal was to work 15 hours per week. Khala coached Ian on asking his employer for more hours so he could reach his goal.
In his appointments, Khala also reviewed Ian’s pay slips, and identified that Ian wasn’t being paid correctly.
She supported Ian to speak to his employer to, not only gain more hours, but to ensure he was being paid accurately.
“Ian has attended every appointment with atWork Australia,” said Khala.“We worked together to help him reach his goals and interests.”
“I know there are people at atWork Australia who support me. Not just getting me work, but ensuring I get treated fairly and paid correctly,” said Ian, Disability Employment Services, Client
“Employment has helped Ian to better his life as he is able to support his family,” said Khala.
“It has been a pleasure to see Ian reach his goals of increasing his hours at a job he enjoys.”
