When a chain of events left Mark out of work, he needed extra support to help him back into employment.
Mark lives with a heart condition that required surgery. While he was recovering from surgery, he had a bad fall. During his recovery, Mark didn’t receive the support he needed to support his recovery, which added stress to his situation.
Mark was always keen to get back into work, but he needed to look at a new industry. atWork Australia Job Coach Telia, from Joondalup Western Australia, was able to help Mark find work that is supporting him to better health.
“Mark has always shown how keen he was to find work. He wanted to be able to financially support his family,” said Telia.
“I thought he would be a good fit as a traffic controller for a local company, so we looked at helping Mark learn some new skills.”
Telia organised an induction day at the traffic company so Mark could see if it was something he wanted to get into before enrolling him in a three-day traffic control course and organising a white card.
The role is casual with part-time hours which works well with Mark’s family and his heart condition.
“This job helps me financially support my family. I’m feeling better for the routine that work has provided me. My mental health is much better for being out and socialising,” said Mark.
“Telia organised my personal protective equipment and a uniform. I’m so thankful Telia acted swiftly to find me work and gave me everything I needed to succeed.” – Mark, DES Client, WA
