atWork Australia client, Ashley, said, “The team at atWork Australia have been so helpful. They were always so bubbly, which built my confidence and helped with my mental health.”

Disability Employment Services client, Ashley, is a single mother to three children. She came to atWork Australia’s Ballarat office in Victoria, after being in and out of employment for multiple years.

Being a single mother, Ashley was a busy lady. Unfortunately, one of her children has been experiencing health concerns which has prevented Ashely from working.

When she was ready to return to work, Ashley chose to connect with atWork Australia and has always given 110% in her attempts to find employment.

The only motivation she needed was her want to provide a better life for her family.

Ashley was being supported by Job Coach, Khala. As the pair began working together, Ashley spoke about her situation and her motivations to return to work. She also shared that she lives with her own health challenges, as she lives with mental health concerns.

Khala acknowledged that Ashely had a lot on her plate and assured her that atWork Australia would do everything they could to support her on this journey.

Ashley and Khala began searching for suitable opportunities. Together they updated Ashley’s resume, cover letter, and prepared strong applications. To Ashley’s credit, she was very diligent in following up on her applications, always following up with a phone call.

In the meantime, atWork Australia continued supporting Ashley to build her confidence, focussing on developing her interview skills, purchasing new interview clothes, obtaining a current Police check and completing her First Aid qualifications. So, when the right opportunity came, she would be ready to put her best foot forward.

Off the back of her consistent effort and good preparation, Ashley has secured a position in the Aged Care industry.

Ashley was over the moon with this new opportunity and was eager to start work. Khala remained by her side through the next stage of her journey, supporting her with the onboarding process and supporting her during employment.

“Ashley is incredible. She has had a lot going on, raising her three children and managing her mental health. We are so proud of her,” said Job Coach, Khala.

“We are incredibly proud we could support Ashley through this challenging period and support her to achieve her goals. We look forward to watching her progress in her new workplace.”

“The team at atWork Australia have been so helpful. They were always so bubbly, which built my confidence and helped with my mental health,”  said Ashley.
