At 44 years-old, Chris came to atWork Australia with a broad employment history, having tried a variety of roles such as warehousing, production, machine operator, forklift operator, and delivery driver.
Chris lives with an intellectual disability, and he came to atWork Australia’s Ingle Farm, SA, office to get support from the Disability Employment Services team to find stable and suitable employment that he enjoys.
Chris connected with atWork Australia in March 2024, and was connected with Job Coach, Saori. Immediately the pair began building a strong relationship where they could bounce new ideas off each other, which gave Chris a broader perspective of what employment opportunities were available.
Chris was finding his employment journey daunting and a bit challenging, while at the same time he was excited about exploring new opportunities.
After an in-depth discussion with his Job Coach and advice from other people he trusted, Chris decided to pursue a career in the security industry.
With the support of atWork Australia, Chris was enrolled into a Certificate II in Security Operations through Tactical Training. Job Coach, Saori, supported Chris throughout the course, sitting with him in the office to review his assessments, ensuring everything had been
completed correctly before he submitted the final document.
After completing his course, Chris is incredibly excited about starting his career in the security industry and is looking forward to taking on new opportunities in the future.
Throughout Chris’s journey with atWork Australia his confidence and self-esteem has continued to grow. He now approaches new situations with a positive mindset and a can-do attitude.
Most importantly, Chris is feeling much better about his ability to be a good Dad and a positive influence on his son.
