atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services client Charles is 18 years old and ready to start his first ever job.
He lives with depression and anxiety, so he needed a supportive employer to help him feel comfortable in the workplace.
When atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant, Roger, met Charles, he was impressed with his presentation and positive attitude towards work. He knew right away the right employer to support Charles.
“I immediately thought of Brijesh at Muffin Break in the Top Ryde Shopping Centre,” said Roger.
Brijesh is the manager of the Muffin Break in the Top Ryde Shopping Centre in New South Wales and has been partnering with atWork Australia for a year.
Brijesh has provided an opportunity for four of atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services clients, so Roger knew he would be supportive and encouraging of a diverse workforce.
When Brijesh met Charles, he was also impressed by his presentation and professionalism.
In the first few weeks Charles had already learnt customer service, making coffee and baking muffins.
“Charles applies himself well. He is very reliable and very eager to learn,” said Brijesh.
By bringing together different minds, backgrounds, experiences, and ages it allows both Muffin Break and its employees to thrive.
“Charles is enjoying his first ever role and he is looking forward to his future in employment,” said Roger.
