Workforce Australia client, Chantal, is originally from Africa and speaks French with English as her second language. Her husband had recently passed, and she was living with depression, but she was ready to return to work to become more independent.
Chantal had previously worked as a Support Worker, but due to Government mandates on vaccinations, she needed to look for work outside of her experience.
Chantal was connected with Job Coach, Helen, in the atWork Australia Wanneroo office in Western Australia.
Helen first referred Chantal to our Wellness Services so she could seek support through her grief.
Helen also worked with Chantal to identify other types of work she could use her skills in and asked about her hobbies and interests to help her look at a different career direction.
Chantal also needed support using technology, including her mobile phone, to apply for roles. She participated in a targeted pre-employment program to help her be ready for work.
“Chantal has an incredible work ethic. Her confidence and independence have grown since we first met,” said Helen.
Chantal is now working in a gardening role and is enjoying the teamwork and being outdoors.
“When Chantal landed the role, atWork Australia also supported her with the work-related clothing she needed.”
To supplement her work hours, she is also working as a Cleaner, a role she was connected to through the atWork Australia Employer Engagement Team.
When Chantal first found herself on job-seeker payments through Centrelink, she felt that was the worst thing, however, she now believes it was a positive thing due to the support she has received.
Every year, atWork Australia helps thousands of clients like Chantal expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
