At 57 years old, Workforce Australia client, Catherine connected with the atWork Australia team in Drysdale, VIC for assistance on her journey back to the workforce.
After recently moving to the region, she was seeking professional job support to find a position she loved. She was after something that was people focused, sustainable and consistent.
The first thing that Catherine requested support with was her resume. She only had an outdated paper version and wanted something more modern and digital.
After getting to know Catherine’s skills, interests, previous work history and goals her Job Coach was able to create an updated resume.
Catherine was not confident with navigating the digital environment, so her Job Coach enrolled her within a local digital literacy course.
By enrolling her within the program, it not only boosted her confidence but was giving her new skills that she could take into a work environment.
“The digital literacy course gave Catherine the skills she needed to succeed within the digital job landscape,” said Service Manger Julie-Anne.
Julie-Anne and Catherine connected whilst Catherine was attending a ‘Jobs Now’ session.
Catherine opened up to Julie-Anne and shared some of her background, and her mental health concerns. Julie-Anne offered atWork Australia’s internal Wellness sessions to Catherine.
“Catherine was so grateful to have access to these services at no cost. She was so surprised at how soon she could secure an appointment,” said Julie-Anne.
Whilst attending these appointments, Catherine worked on further upskilling to enter employment.
Soon enough, Catherine was interviewed and was successful in gaining a position with a supermarket chain. She is starting this position in the new year.
