Workforce Australia client, Cameron, started his working life as a butcher but realised that career wasn’t for him.
When he started working with atWork Australia in Invermay, Tasmania, and his Job Coach, Ashlee, he was unsure of what direction to take in his career.
Ashlee got to know Cameron, she learnt he still wanted to do something active, and they spoke about his skills, interests, and passions.
“Cameron was unsure of what industry he wanted to change to after butchering. He came with an open mind, and was very responsive to suggestions,” said Job Coach, Ashlee.
“We had spoken about labouring work as an option when an opportunity to meet one of our local employers came up.”
atWork Australia regularly works with flexible and inclusive employer, Programmed, in Tasmania.
Cameron was invited to attend an open day in the Invermay office with the Programmed team.
From here, he was offered a casual role which has now turned into full-time work.
Ashlee supported Cameron to gain a White Card, and his forklift ticket. And financially supported Cameron to purchase the personal protective equipment he would need for his new role.
Cameron is now being supported by our in-work support team while we make sure this career is the right fit for him going forward.
