Cameron (24) was working as a Barista when his place of employment was permanently closed in the aftermath of Covid-19.
This sudden loss of work impacted his mental health. Cameron was living with severe depression and needed to take time off work to focus on his health.
He started meeting with Job Coach Danielle from the atWork Australia’s Caboolture, QLD office. Danielle got to know Cameron and noticed his confidence had been impacted by his time off work.
“When I first got to know Cameron, I made sure he felt valued and comfortable coming into his fortnightly appointments,” said Danielle.
“Cameron needed someone in his corner, encouraging him and boosting his confidence.’
Soon after, Cameron said he was ready to return to work and believed it would help improve his depression.
He was struggling to find suitable work where he could rely on public transport to get him there and home.
He also wanted to return to barista work; he knew what was involved and was already skilled in this area.
“We found Cameron work at a local coffee shop. We paired him with an employer who creates a positive and supportive working environment which is what Cameron needed, while the employer gained an experienced Barista.”
“Now both Cameron and his employer are thriving. Cameron is more confident in himself and his abilities.” – Danielle, Job Coach, QLD
