Melbourne-based, 21-year-old Brandon lives with anxiety and has low confidence due to his limited literacy and numeracy skills and a limited employment history.
Despite these perceived barriers, Brandon is a very respectful and well-mannered young man who is easy to communicate with. He has previously worked at a local retail store but was unable to stay on due to not being provided stable and guaranteed hours.
Brandon struggled to find suitable employment which would meet his needs. After two years of unemployment, Brandon reached out to his local atWork Australia office in Plenty where he met Job Coach Anthea and Employment Engagement Consultant Nicole.
At their weekly appointments, Brandon and Anthea practiced interview questions together which helped him to gain confidence and courage. Nicole contacted Brandon regularly and suggested a Retail Assistant role with Battery World Greensborough. He was very happy and excited about this opportunity and to finally have gained employment.
Nicole contacted Gazal, from Battery World, over the phone and introduced herself and the services atWork Australia could provide. Nicole was confident that Brandon would be a suitable candidate for the advertised Retail Assistant role due to his previous work experience in a retail store and his well-developed customer service skills. Gazal from Battery World was impressed by Nicole’s effort as she researched the position and identified Brandon as a suitable candidate with the required skillset. This saved Gazal a lot of time and effort.
Gazal says: “Brandon has been a wonderful addition to our team and is an absolute pleasure to work with! He’s wonderful at taking on feedback, learning technical information and provides excellent customer service. Brandon has enjoyed positive feedback from our customers on our social media pages and is a team player. I am very happy to see Brandon’s skills grow at Battery World Greensborough!
Nicole adds to that: “I am very proud of Brandon. He is doing very well and I received very positive feedback from his employer.”
Brandon always showed determination, appreciation and respect towards Job Coach Anthea and Employer Engagement Consultant Nicole and thanked them for their assistance in finding him employment.
Brandon says: “I would like to thank Nicole and Anthea for their support in helping me to gain the skills and knowledge to find a job, and assistance with commencing work at Battery World Greensborough.”
