Beth had been a stay-at-home mum, looking after her child for the past six years while studying Real Estate.
Previously, Beth had been on the ParentsNext program but once her child turned six, she was transferred to Workforce Australia. She arrived at her first appointment with the team in Clare, South Australia, confused as to why she was there.
Her Job Coach, Anika spent the first appointment supporting Beth to understand the different programs and helped her to learn about her requirements in Workforce Australia.
Anika got to know Beth, and Beth expressed that before having her child she really enjoyed working at the Clare Quarry, and that it had a great workplace culture and she felt like family there.
Anika encouraged Beth to give them a call to see if they had any vacancies.
“Beth was nervous, but within 10 minutes of making the phone call to her previous employer, she had a job,” said Anika.
Her employer also gave her hours which fit around school times so she could continue to care for her child.
“Beth’s previous employer was happy to have her back, as she had a great work ethic,” said Anika.
“Beth said the job would help support her family financially, and that she was looking forward to returning to work.”
While the team at Clare only worked with Beth for a short time, they were glad to be able to support her back into a role she enjoys while she continues to study.
