66-year-old, Beryl, had been volunteering at the local Vinnies for the past few years when she decided she wanted a new challenge.
She wanted to be more social, and she wasn’t ready to retire.
Beryl is an atWork Australia Workforce Australia client in Warrawong, New South Wales.
She spoke to her Job Coach, Ryleigh, to let her know she was interested in a bar tending role and wanted to complete her RSA.
“Beryl came into the office and advised she may be able to gain employment if she obtained her RSA course,” said Ryleigh.
“We booked her into an RSA course, not long after completing the course she landed casual employment at her local bowls club.”
“She has been enjoying work in her new role and found the course easy to complete with helpful trainers.”
Working casually allows Beryl to make friends and remain social. She is also being praised for her customer service.
“The new opportunity really excited me,” said Beryl.
“I’ve made good friends within the business and am getting good feedback from the public.”
“I’m getting more confident every day.”
atWork Australia also assisted Beryl with funding to purchase new comfortable shoes for her role.
“I look forward to hearing Beryl’s stories from the bar when she comes in for her appointments,” said Ryleigh.
