Workforce Australia client, Barry, really enjoys working as a spray painter and industrial blaster.
He met Job Coach, Sarah, from the Norlane atWork Australia office in Victoria, after he resigned from his job.
He felt his workplace didn’t support his health, wellbeing or safety. Having to resign impacted Barry’s mental health.
“He shared that he felt depressed and stressed with the sudden loss of income,” said Sarah.
“He wanted to find work quickly, in the same industry but with an employer who was supportive and respectful of his health and safety.”
With financial stress and pressure on his shoulders, Sarah referred Barry to our in-house Wellness Services for support.
atWork Australia financially supported Barry with his car registration so he could attend interviews and apply for more roles that required him to have his own transport.
“The combined use of wellness services and supporting Barry with his car were vital steps in his job search,” said Sarah.
Barry was now able to focus his mind on his job searching efforts. With his experience, skills and positive attitude, he quickly landed an interview.
At the interview, Barry felt the employer would be a better fit for him, as they cared about his health and wellbeing.
After six months of unemployment, Barry was now back at work doing a job he loves.
Sarah and the atWork Australia team helped him purchase personal protective equipment and new clothes for work. They also supported him with a fuel voucher for his first few weeks to relieve the pressure until his first pay came in.
“I am grateful to the staff at atWork Australia in Norlane for their assistance during my time of unemployment,” said Barry.
“Work is going fantastically, and I am loving my new role!”
