Rosemarie visited the atWork Australia office in Narellan, NSW for assistance to find work. She was unsure what work she could do at 66 with her experience and the various health conditions she lives with including anxiety, hypertension, and back pain.
She was looking for work but received no response when she applied for roles. She needed help with direction and finding an employer who could accommodate her health conditions.
Rosemarie was paired with Job Coach Nicole, who worked with her from start to finish. They began by looking at her barriers and worked to find solutions for each one.
Communication between Nicole and Rosemarie was the key to building their strong relationship.
“Maintaining great communication with Rosemarie was key to our success. Rosemarie calls when she needs me, and I check up on her and ask how she is going. We keep those lines of communication open at all times,” said Job Coach Nicole.
After two years of being unemployed, Rosemarie entered the workforce as a Warehouse Assistant preparing vegetables. The role is light, part-time work, so is suitable for Rosemarie as she does not have to bend or lift heavy items.
atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant Janine works with the employer to make sure the workplace is flexible for Rosemarie and her health conditions. While Nicole calls Rosemarie regularly to check how she is going in her new role.
“Nicole is very helpful and accommodating. She is always following up with me, asking how I am, and she is concerned with how I am doing at work. Thank you atWork Australia for helping me,” said Rosemarie.
“Since Rosemarie has joined atWork Australia, she has been such a pleasure to work with. I am happy to have worked with her and to have found her employment,” said Nicole.
