ParentsNext client, Kate, from Armadale, WA, started with atWork Australia in 2019 as a young mother who wanted support.
“Kate was wanting to work on her mental health, and wanted assistance to prepare for employment when her children were old enough for school,” said her In-Work Support Coach, Paula.
“We supported Kate with career guidance and mentoring during her journey, while being someone she could speak to, who knew her well, during her ongoing appointments.”
During the past four years, Kate engaged in wellness services, including the services offered by atWork Australia, for support with her mental health.
atWork Australia also supported her to enrol in a Certificate III in Community Services. Due to COVID restrictions, Kate was unable to complete the work placement as part of the course but when restrictions where lifted, she was able to complete her certificate in 2021.
During this time, the atWork Australia team were by her side, providing encouragement and connecting her to any services she needed along the way.
The team helped her gain her police check and CV check so she could successfully complete her placement.
“Kate had another child in June of 2022, but the following year she was back with the ParentsNext team, ready to take the next steps to finding work,” said Paula.
Kate is now working in a role she enjoys, using the time away from the house as her ‘me’ time.
“Kate said her employer is very supportive and flexible with her needs, and she really enjoys working for them,” said Paula.
“It has been really great to be there for Kate these past years, to see her grow as a mother, plan for her and her family’s future and ultimately achieve her employment goals.”
