On Friday, 17 September 2021 atWork Australia attended the Boddington Career Expo. Present on the day were 40 companies – various employers, Registered Training Organisations and community support services. atWork Australia was the only employment services provider present.
Approximately 150 adolescents from local schools and surrounding towns attended; some of them coming from as far as Narrogin, 83km from Boddington.
The event was hosted by the Shire of Boddington, in partnership with South Metro TAFE, Jobs and Skills Centre, the Boddington Community Resources Centre and Newmont, a local mining company.
The Boddington Career Expo provided young people with great employment opportunities including apprenticeships, traineeships and DIDO (Drive in Drive out) roles with the 2nd largest gold mine in the world (Newmont).
atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services informed attendees about their services and how they assist people living with disability, injury or health condition find meaningful work. The team facilitated direct registrations on the day. The team of Indigenous Employment Services was presented on the day and established new relationships with local employers.
atWork Australia’s jobactive team provided attendees with advice on anything related to their job applications, resume health checks and advice on career options.
