Workforce Australia client, Ariana*, had a challenging past. She wanted to find employment but was unsure how to overcome the barriers created by her past.
She was connected to Job Coach, Ryleigh, at the Shellharbour atWork Australia office in New South Wales.
Ariana had previous work experience as a cleaner and in administration. She originally thought returning to a similar role was the best chance to secure work due to her experience. However, most employers in this industry required her to pass a Police check.
Not sure of her next steps, Ryleigh supported Ariana to think outside of the box, and look at other industries she might be interested in. Together they landed on production work in a factory or warehouse.
atWork Australia supported Ariana to obtain qualifications in first aid and work towards her forklift licence.
While she was doing this, she was also connected to atWork Australia’s in-house Wellness Services for additional support.
Having not worked in the industry before, Ariana’s confidence was low. Job Coach, Ryleigh, encouraged Ariana and built up her confidence by talking about the skills she did have to offer.
It wasn’t long before Ariana landed employment as a production worker at a local factory.
“Returning to work has provided Ariana with the stability and confidence to support herself,” said Ryleigh.
“Work has been beneficial to her health and wellness, and she is thriving in her new environment.”
“Ariana is loving her new job and recently obtained a promotion,” said Ryleigh, Job Coach
