Krista came to atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia office in Devonport, Tasmania, to get support to find meaningful employment. Krista had been unemployed for two years and due to her health concerns, she did not feel prepared to return to the workplace.
Krista was experiencing long term unemployment, which can have a significant impact on a person confidence and self-belief. Along with other barriers to employment, such as: not having access to stable accommodation, no transport, limited skills and qualifications. While at the same time, Krista is living with a mental health condition.
When Krista met her Job Coach, Sommer, she was determined to support Krista back into employment. Sommer recognized that Krista had significant barriers to employment and quickly put steps in place to start supporting her.
Sommer referred Krista to atWork Australia’s Wellness Services. Our Wellness professionals empower clients to prioritise their overall health and wellbeing. After attending Wellness Services and regular progress appointments with her Job Coach, Krista was beginning to regain her confidence and was feeling prepared to return to work. With her newfound confidence, it was not long until Krista secured full time employment at Costa Exchange, in the role of Distribution Center Support. Krista’s Job Coach, Sommer, was able to arrange funding for Krista to purchase new clothes for her interview and new clothes that she would require to wear to work. Additionally, atWork Australia provided funding for Krista to obtain her forklift ticket, that she required for her new job.
This was a fantastic outcome for Krista, she was very excited about this new opportunity. Krista said, “The support I received from atWork Australia has been very beneficial through my job seeking journey. They were very understanding of my unique situation and were able to provide me with regular support, which meant I was able to smoothly transition into my new role.”
Krista’s Job Coach, Sommer, said, “I am very impressed with how Krista has progressed. Through our Wellness Services she was able to openly talk about and address the barriers she was facing in her personal life.”
Krista’s story is a great example of how determination and persistence can lead to meaningful employment. Since finding suitable employment, it has helped to significantly improve her mental health condition.
“I am very appreciative for all the support that the Devonport office have, and continue to, provide to me,” said Krista
