After four years of being unemployed, Workforce Australia client, Mia, entered the atWork Australia office in Nowra, NSW, looking for assistance with getting back in work.
In her first consultation with her Job Coach, Sharon, the pair discussed her employment history, goals and any barriers she has to employment. This allowed for Sharon to create a tailored job plan that was catered to Mia and her goals.
It was within this discussion that Mia informed Sharon on her reliance on public transport, unstable living situation and lack of confidence in her abilities. All of which, Mia believes to be barriers to employment.
Sharon took note of these barriers and provided professional support to limit and/or resolve them. This support included purchasing Mia a bike, helmet and light to ensure she could travel safely.
When Mia was presented with her new bike and accessories, she hugged Sharon and cried tears of happiness. She simply could not believe the support she had received.
Mia was unsure of what industry she was interested in working in. Sharon suggested completing an RSA course as she believed that she would enjoy hospitality or bar work.
Once she had received her RSA, Sharon advised her of several positions within the local area. She was offered one of these positions after a successful interview.
Once hearing the good news, Mia immediately called Sharon to let her know that she has been successful in the interview. Sharon then purchased all the necessary clothing in preparation of Mia’s first day.
Mia has stated that employment has changed her life. Sharon and the atWork Australia team in Nowra have enjoyed being a part of her journey.
“I have built a strong rapport with Mia and am extremely happy for this outcome. I can see the difference in her confidence.” – Sharon, Job Coach.
