Workforce Australia client, Simone, had spent the last few years looking after her children. During that time, she had completed a week of work as a kitchen hand and was interested in pursuing that line of work, but she felt that she lacked skills in the industry.
Simone started working with Job Coach, Anthony, at the Daveron Park atWork Australia office in South Australia.
“When Simone first started with us, she sometimes found it difficult to get along with others. She was deflated and defeated in her job search,” said Anthony.
Anthony and Simone worked together to create a tailored approach for her journey back into work.
She was referred to the Local Jobs Program ‘Go Hospo’ where she completed accredited training in her Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and other units towards a Certificate III in Hospitality.
Anthony also supported Simone financially to get to and from her training course, and with interview and work-related clothing.
Simone appreciated the flexibility of the Points Based Activation System and is currently completing a Certificate III in Food Processing.
By supporting Simone to upskill, she has recently been successful landing a casual position in hospitality.
“Completing the training programs we referred Simone to, allowed her to mingle with people and learn how to better work with others,” said Anthony. “Simone said she is grateful for the financial support; being a single mother, she would not have been able to afford to attend the training.”
For Simone, completing the Local Jobs Program and being successful in her training has provided her more confidence in obtaining meaningful employment.
“Simone is motivated and is actively looking for opportunities in the hospitality industry,” said Andrew.
“Providing Simone, the opportunity to expand her skills, has given her the confidence she needed to succeed.”
