Michael had been employed by an engineering and infrastructure company for around fourteen years as a Cart & Roller Driver. It was a stable job with regular hours and minimal variation to his duties.

What they determined, was that Michael an ability to drive Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicles. With this information, Job Coach Vilda and Employment Engagement Consultant (EEC) Nicole pulled their talents together to target local employers that could tailor a job to would suit Michael, with a preference towards part time roles that involved driving. Within a year of being with atWork Australia, he was employed in a driving role that suited his needs and abilities.
A refresher Bus Driving course was required, which was funded by atWork Australia. Michael’s confidence soared with the thought of being able to drive buses. When told about the job, Vilda said, “He was very enthusiastic, appreciative and thankful that the job suited Michael’s abilities.”

On several occasions, Michael has expressed that the job is very suited to his needs and that he is quite capable of continuing in paid employment as it is a part time role that’s not a threat to his health and medical condition.
