Wiseway Logistics (Wiseway) is one of the leading freight forwarding companies in Australia. With the head office located in Sydney, Wiseway offers services Australia wide and globally. To achieve their recruitment goals in Western Australia, Wiseway partners with atWork Australia.
Local Wiseway Branch Manager, Denys reached out to one of atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant’s, Caroline for assistance in sourcing several new team members off the back of a new business contract.
Denys had worked with atWork Australia before and looks to hire with diversity and inclusion front of mind. With this new contract in mind, she was looking forward to supporting more people living with disability and disadvantage into meaningful work.
“Ahead of the new contract, we held information sessions with clients at the business. This gave them the opportunity connect with the team members and meet Denys. It also allowed them to see what tasks they would be completing, if they got the job,” said Caroline.
“We had a range of suitable clients that were interested in the positions. Soon all positions were filled with diverse candidates,” she adds.
“Caroline listens to my needs and ensures the people she sends my way are compatible to the work being asked of them. I will give anybody a go regardless of their background or abilities. If they want a job, we will give them a job!” said Denys.
Not only has recruiting equitability assisted in gaining valuable team members, but they have also provided a unique perspective to the business. Wiseway have now employed over 15 Disability Employment Services clients.
atWork Australia clients who have been placed with Wiseway come from a variety of different life paths. Denys is passionate about providing opportunities for everyone regardless of their backgrounds. Tailored working arrangements have been implemented to further support clients into work. These include, job sharing, and minor workplace modifications.
Their impact so strong, that recently when Rob* was getting married, he invited his whole team. The Wiseway team changed Rob’s life, and he is grateful for that. He felt like the team was his family.
Another client, Peter*, who originally attended appointments with his mother, built his confidence so much that Deny’s praised him to his mother. His mother cried, and shared that no one has ever said such lovely things about her son.
Earlier this year, the business was recognised for their ongoing commitment to developing inclusive hiring practices and won the ‘Excellence in creating diverse opportunities’ awards at atWork Australia’s Employer Awards.
“Wiseway Logistics have been amazing to work with. They have been very open to providing employment opportunities for our clients.” – Caroline, Employer Engagement Consultant.
