Local Dandenong South Victoria employer, A&B Automotive, has created a safe, inclusive, and welcoming work environment, supporting all kinds of people to find sustainable and meaningful employment.
Bill and Ann run the family-owned business and have been partnered with atWork Australia for several years supporting our Disability Employment Services clients to find good work.
“A&B Automotive are some of the best employers I have seen in my years,” said atWork Australia’s In-Work Support Coach, Lauren.
“They are supportive, understanding and go above and beyond for their staff. And they have built a team who follow their lead, making their place of employment a supportive environment allowing everyone to perform to the best of their ability.”
A&B Automotive currently employ five people who have been referred to them through atWork Australia. Some who are now working independently and have been employed for over a year.
“Bill’s focus has always been on happy, reliable and long-term staff,” said Lauren.
atWork Australia team member Lauren, knows the business well. She visits every fortnight to understand their requirements and what they are looking for and is able to refer the right clients to the business.
atWork Australia is then able to support the business with modifications or tools to allow the team to perform at their best.
One of the most recent hires, Ropati, lives with low vision, so the atWork Australia team purchased magnifying sheets for Ropati so he could perform well.
“Ropati has been an amazing addition to our team. He is always on time, and ready to assist the team in any way he can. He is hardworking and we look forward to seeing what he achieves in the future,” said Bill.
“Being able to work with Lauren and the atWork Australia team has been a blessing to our business. I can approach her with any issues that arise for support, and she understands exactly what qualities we look for in our staff.”
atWork Australia has also supported A&B Automotive through wage subsidies so they can continue to provide work for people who are committed and dedicated and who just needed a little extra support.
“Seeing how much pride and fulfilment Ropati gets out of his role is heartwarming. His dream was to work in full-time employment so he can support his family,” said Lauren.
“To be able to see the partnership between Ropati and A&B Automotive blossom into successful arrangement is what matters. It’s about making sure we find the right person for the right employer.”
