Indigenous Workforce Australia client, Eliza, has four children and a wonderful grandchild. As a single mum, she has spent a lot of time caring for her children but as they are growing up, she was ready to get out of the house a bit more through casual work.
When she started working with atWork Australia in Northam, WA, she participated in the Jobs for the Mob program which changed her outlook on working.
After participating in several temporary jobs, she was looking for something more stable and ongoing. Eliza was introduced to Employer Engagement Consultant, Ruby, who started to look for something suitable for Eliza.
Ruby approached the local train station enquiring about ongoing work and was connected with Killara Services. One of the largest Aboriginal owned and operated cleaning businesses.
Ruby thought this role would be a perfect fit for Eliza, and Eliza agreed.
The atWork Australia team supported Eliza with her police clearance, and new clothes for her interview. She was successful and has now started in her new role.
“Eliza is happy that she has a job as it gets her out of the house and provides more income to relieve money stress,” said Ruby.
“She has become more confident in the workforce and has direction on how she would like to prosper going forward.”
“We are so glad we were able to connect Eliza with an Indigenous owned company that has made a big difference to her life.”
