The Meadows Family owns and operates 10 McDonald’s restaurants in the South-Western region of Sydney. The family, and McDonald’s, have been partnering with atWork Australia since 2017, embracing diversity and inclusion to support and reflect the communities in which they operate.
To date, the McDonald’s restaurants have provided sustainable employment opportunities to more than 20 atWork Australia clients. Working as part of a team allows our clients to be working in a positive and supportive environment, allowing them to build their skills and confidence in the workplace. This has enabled them to thrive as individuals and give purpose and meaning to their day-to-day lives.
Peter Meadows, local Owner / Operator, says, “we’re really proud to be a part of the local community and we do everything we can to support team members who are living with disability.”
The Meadows Family McDonald’s restaurants currently employ over 1,000 employees, embracing the long-term partnership with atWork Australia that has grown from strength to strength over the years.
By working with a Disability Employment Service provider, McDonald’s can access a talent pool of candidates who are eager to work in a fast-paced and process driven environment. McDonald’s is a great place for many atWork Australia clients as they provide on the job training and support, give ownership of tasks to individual team members and have a clear path to promotion. This type of environment helps clients build their confidence and communication skills, see results and be proud of their work during and after a shift, as well as set clear and achievable goals with their manager to work to the next level of promotion and responsibility.
McDonald’s did not need to make any workplace modifications, they are well placed to provide a specific role or job type that is suited to each team members skills and abilities, being flexible to provide training and opportunity wherever they need to allow each person to thrive.
