Annika started working with her Job Coach, Frances, at the Cannington, WA, atWork Australia ParentsNext office.
ParentsNext helps support parents plan and prepare for employment by the time their children start school. Getting back into the workforce after a break can be challenging. The program aims to help parents prepare for future opportunities, while keeping them connected to community and support networks.
Annika mentioned to Frances that she was unsure what direction she would want to take with work in the future, but she knew what would be most helpful for her now.
Together Annika and Frances, co-designed a plan that worked for Annika.
Annika needed support to obtain a Drivers Licence as she was worried about the lack of transport options.
Not only would a Licence help Annika with expanded work opportunities in the future, but it would also make life easier with a young child.
While Annika was participating in driving lessons, she also worked with the atWork Australia team to update her resume.
She also completed the ‘Best Version of Me’ course which supports clients to build confidence, motivation and supports general health and wellbeing.
The course aims to help parents with their individual goals and helps create direction in future employment.
“By supporting Annika to obtain her Drivers Licence she will be in a much better position to be able to find work when she is ready,” said Job Coach Frances.
“I’m looking forward to our next appointment to discuss the ‘Best Version of Me’ course and learn how we can support Annika in her next goal.”
