On Wednesday 14^th September atWork participated in the Abilities Career Expo held at the Burswood Resort in .

Targeted at school leavers, the expo showcased education, training, career and employment opportunities for people with disability.  Attendees had the opportunity to explore the many display booths to gain information on the options available to them in these areas.

The mood was one of enthusiasm and interest if the large number of children flocking to the displays was anything to go by!

The event was a great success for atWork with staff handing out 130 showbags in the space of two hours.  Attendees were eager to understand the services and support offered by atWork and interested in the range of post-school options that atWork can help them explore.

In addition to the showbags, balloons, information, school and student competitions, there was a host of live entertainment including performances by the Variety Choir, drumming by Warnbro Education Support Centre, cheerleading by and Cheer Ability Lions and a fantastic display by the Kalamunda Rapping Group.  All performers were talented and inspirational demonstrating that disability is no obstacle to success.

Three schools were the fortunate winners in the atWork competition winning a school visit by Scitech, the hugely popular science and technology outreach program.  These were Armadale Education Support Centre, Wanneroo Senior High and Warnbro Education Support Centre.  Scitech will give students the opportunity to participate in activities as well as explore the inflatable Space Dome which is always a hit!

atWork was also delighted to provide a prize to a student from each of the winning schools of a family pass to AQWA, the Aquarium of Western .  

We are delighted to participate in events such as the Abilities Career Expo that encourage students to aim high and not allow their disability to be a barrier to success.
