Launch Of Psych Assessment Information Flyer
21/12/2010
To coincide with National Psychology Week (15-19 November) atWork Australia has launched a flyer to educate Job Seekers and staff on why their in-house psychological services are a vital tool in achieving the goal of linking the right person to the right job.
Many Job Seekers are naturally apprehensive when their case worker recommends a psychological assessment. Despite the reality that mental health is an issue that affects over 800,000 Australians annually and is the third leading cause of disability in Australia, myths and misconceptions continue to be present regarding the role of psychologists.
The flyer seeks to dispel these misconceptions and reassure both the Employment Consultant and Job Seeker that the types of assessments undertaken are focused on delivering the appropriate level of support required, regardless of circumstances and ensuring that the needs of the Job Seeker are completely met. The atWork Australia in-house psychologists can be a vital step in the path to employment for a Job Seeker. They are committed to enabling each Job Seeker to function to their full capacity and are not focused on diagnosis or labelling.
National Psychology Week is an event run by the Australian Psychological Society to promote the role of psychology, and the work of psychologists in the Australian Community.
atWork Australia provides Employment Services on behalf of the Australian Government to Job Seekers who are unemployed and have disabilities or health related issues.
atWork Psychologist John Dick briefs Lee St Germaine on the new flyer. Lee, a former Job Seeker, is now employed by atWork Australia as an Employment Consultant.
