A Stress Less Day at Fremantle Mental Health Service Centre
16/10/2008
atWork Australia was one of around eight community support agencies who joined together at the Fremantle Mental Health Centre on Alma Street, Fremantle on 7 October 2008 for a “Stress Less Day” to promote Australian Mental Health Week.
The networking event provided the opportunity for atWork Australia to connect with other support agencies to provide the best support for job seekers with mental health issues. It also offered the general public, including in and outpatients from the Centre or their carers, to ask questions about the various forms of assistance available.
Peter Blitz, Manager of atWork Australia’s Spearwood office, said “it was extremely valuable for our staff to be able to network with other community support agencies in the South West area to corroborate many of our existing relationships. From my perspective, being able to provide assistance and advice to job seekers at the same time made the event a big success.”
Some of the other support agencies who were part of the event included Ruah Inreach (psychosocial mental health service), Volunteering WA, Fremantle’s Women’s Health Centre, Mental Illness Fellowship of WA, and the Grow Community Centre.
It is hoped that this annual event will occur more frequently and atWork Australia is keen to be involved in any future occasion.
