The WorkFocus Group of Associated Companies was represented at the Hewitt Best Employers in Australia and NZ Awards, held in Sydney on 11 September 2008. Attendees from The WorkFocus Group included Catherine Thurston, National HR Manager, and Therese Campbell, Sydney-based Director and National Marketing Manager.
Bain & Company (a global business and strategy consulting firm), with Australian offices in Sydney and Melbourne, was the big winner on the night, taking out the Best Employer award. Well-known company, SEEK Limited, was runner up in this category.
Highly Commended Awards were presented to FedEx, Inside Mobile, Medtronic Australasia, NSW Teachers Credit Union, The GPT Group, Vedior Asia Pacific, and Westaff.
The WorkFocus Group was one of nearly 200 employers in Australia and New Zealand who participated in the 2008 Hewitt Best Employers Study - Employee Opinion Survey. The WorkFocus Group received an engagement score of 78 per cent, placing them in the High Performance Range of Employers. A fantastic result for the WorkFocus Group, who weren’t far behind the winners’ score of 82 per cent engagement.
Organisations across Australia and NZ whose employees participated in the study were surveyed against a variety of measures and employee perceptions on such matters as the organisation’s people programmes and practices, the effectiveness of these programmes, levels of engagement and alignment to organisational strategy, performance across engagement drivers, employees’ experiences, cultures and values of the company.
National HR Manager for the WorkFocus Group, Catherine Thurston says “Being our first year in the study, we weren’t sure what to expect. We know we have great staff and are doing some great things for the company, but this result is fantastic and reinforces what a great place this is to work”.
